I started gaming at a very young age with the NES and games like Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda. Ever since then I’ve been hooked and play a myriad of games from casual to competitive.
JP began his career in eSports at Quakecon 2006. A friend of his had gotten him a job with GotFrag.com, helping with the tournament coverage alongside Marc “Singlecoil” Turner and Rod “Slasher” Breslau. After this tournament, JP never looked back. He began to work with Gotfrag.com more in the Fall of 2006 where he wrote for the DPAD portal, understanding early that consoles would be the platform to push eSports into the mainstream. He continued to write for Gotfrag until January of 2007.
He had been offered a position with a small, but growing website in AmpedeSports.com. The site was the brainchild of Games Media Properties, the company behind the World Series of Video Games. In 2007, the lead title for the league was announced: World of Warcraft. Having been hooked on the popular MMORPG for quite some time JP offered his writing skills to the growing community. With the launch of Gameriot.com, JP assumed the position of Managing Editor where he worked until November of that year. He began to refocus himself on school for the Spring semester and took a break from the world of eSports.
After finishing up school and earning his degree in journalism, JP started working once again for Singlecoil doing live events for MLG. During the Beta for SC2, he developed and produced the MLG Showmatch Series casting alongside Sean “Day[9]” Plott. He would also create State of the Game, a Starcraft 2 centric podcast. Later in 2011, JP was given a full-time position at MLG and currently can be viewed producing State of the Game every week as well as other MLG shows.
